So much of life is dictated by the quality of what we think and that quality will only improve with the stopping of false thoughts and elimination of belief in things that can be proven wrong or that are inaccurate and the start of thinking based on truth and facts; colored only by emotions driven by inclusive and positive beliefs—not bigoted and negative ones.
We are creatures of habit and routine and often need something to prompt us to consider our thoughts… to provoke their evaluation and what forms or has formed them. And to weigh it all in balance so choices can be made. So here’s something to give some thought to:
Only the simple minded (either through ignorance or mental laziness), or those who benefit from the consumer and viewing habits or votes of the simple minded, will refute (without a factual basis) what is said so baldly in this 3 ½ minute video clip.
I believe that the United States is the greatest county in the world to live. But what actor Jeff Daniels says in this show clip is painfully true. We have problems. The truth is, in so many ways of measurement; in so many critical areas like education, life expectancy, income and other metrics; the US no longer leads the world. But we could again… if we admit the truth of where things stand and work to fix the problems that have created a downward slide. In Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” Cassius was right: "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves."
Another quote, this one from Edward R. Murrow, is a key reason why we, and the politicians we elect based on them, struggle with solving our nation’s problems: “A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.”
You want to help our country become the leader it can be again?
Stop the mindless following.
Stop accepting it when the media… politicians…. or whoever… blows smoke up the collective ass of the American public (or your ass individually) to make them (or you) believe something that is not true just so they can get the ratings or get elected or benefit in some way from that happening.
Stop the ridiculous notion that those who point out the problems we have as a nation are unpatriotic and don’t love their country. That’s bullshit and those who believe we don’t love our country, in fact, are part of the problem because: They are simple minded, hidebound individuals who do not think—they merely rearrange their prejudices letting others do their thinking for them – or they have their own agenda which they will benefit from by making statements that it’s unpatriotic to say we are no longer the leader of the world in many ways.
Start to face facts.
Start to think for yourself.
